How does an Ashram Help You Find Peace & Direction in Life?

An ashram is not a refuge, but it is much more than that. To learn and practice yoga, it gives us a place of peace and quietness and it also gives us meaning and direction. The ashrams are for those who feel prepared to bring yoga to much deeper levels towards the development of consciousness. In the ashrams, you live yoga at every moment. It is the example that yoga is a state and a path.

In a traditional ashram, we work with each other, not against each other, because it is a place where there is no competition. It is a place where we will be what we are, and accept us as we are at the point of the way in which we are. Where we do not prove anything or get anywhere but we just keep learning, striving to be the best version of ourselves. We will meet that part of us where we are wise and happy and we can do extraordinary things to change the world.
In an ashram, we remember the teachings of yoga. We recall and accept life as it comes and flow with its changes and challenges and we also take responsibility for what we can change, mainly our consciousness. Yoga teaches us to have a wider and a more detached, more serene and more loving attitude.
It does not mean to become renunciant, the tradition is not intended to live outside the world, but to do it without being affected by it in our equanimity and putting the heart into every act, rather than ego, and through carrying out our mission. The awakening of intuition, which begins in the fifth chakra, tells us what this universal mission is.
In yogic lifestyle, what happens in an ashram, we prefer collective vision over individual, the spiritual over material, the balance of stimulation, intuition over reason, love over fear, observation of the mind over the empire of the mind, detachment over attachment; acceptance over assertiveness, health over functionality and the union of duality.
The foundations of a center of spiritual development are broadly the evolution of our spirit and the pursuit of our potential in all aspects i.e. ethical, mental, intellectual, physical and transcendent. We are surrounded by people looking to give more meaning to life or learn how to be better human beings and live every moment with awareness the way for the development of every aspect of our being and be in an environment that goes in one direction.
It is a stay that may hold the key to our personal well-being and even for some dimensions such as the future of the planet, because the evolution of consciousness has an impact on the world. An ashram is a place of true union where people of all nationalities and beliefs are welcome and live under a common framework of respect, peace and solidarity.
We begin to understand and rely on a universal consciousness. We learn not to pay attention to our mind struggling to be free and open to resist certain ideas and questions to lighten our burden and show us our essence and meaning of what happens at the most basic levels of reality.
